Why Emma Loves Group Sessions at Day1
Hi Em, congrats on being our latest client spotlight! What is your favourite group session at Day1? Give us a why as well.
Tuesday night boxing! And the reason why might surprise you—it terrifies me… in the best possible way. I’m more of a 'cardi-no' kind of gal; give me a barbell or a set of dumbbells, and I’m in my element. But mention cardio, and I freeze—my confidence vanishes, and I shy away. Boxing, though, pulls me out of my head and right out of my comfort zone. It throws me into the ring—literally! There’s no time for self-doubt or anxiety. For 45 minutes, I glove up and channel my inner Aelin Galathynius (where my Throne of Glass fans at?!) and get ready for battle.
Zac is incredible—super professional, genuinely invested in helping us nail the technique, and a big fan of shuttle runs (which, I have to admit, are starting to win me over too). The high I feel after class might be hidden behind a sweaty, beetroot-red grin, but it’s absolutely there—and I live for it every week!
Emma's Fitness Goals
What is your current goal / reason for training at Day1?
I’m an active explorer at heart—I love experiencing the world through nature and trekking across breathtaking landscapes. Over the next 12 months, I’ve got some big adventures lined up: Uluru, the Camino de Santiago, and Machu Picchu are all on the horizon. I’m also eyeing treks in Iceland and the stunning wilderness of Tasmania. To prepare, I’m focusing on building serious strength in my legs, glutes, and core, along with boosting my cardiovascular fitness so I can keep going strong for days on end.
The Benefits of Personal Training
You are currently on our platinum membership with weekly personal training included. What is the greatest benefit of doing PT?
1-on-1 personal training is a total game-changer. Working with someone (Brandon) who truly understands where you’re at and where you want to go—and who tailors every workout to support your progress and safety—makes all the difference. I’ve done things I never thought I could, discovered muscles I didn’t even know existed, and loved every second of it (even if my face sometimes says otherwise)!

Do you have any praise for Brandon?
Brandon is the best trainer I could have hoped for. His infectious positivity and healthy banter are the perfect match for my own, making every session full of laughter between sets. Beyond that, he's incredibly professional, intuitive, and truly brilliant at what he does.
Our sessions are the highlight of my week. I deeply appreciate the safe and supportive space he creates—it means so much to me. A few years ago, I had a pretty traumatic gym injury that left me scared to try anything outside the ordinary. But Brandon’s unwavering belief in me and his constant encouragement have been transformative. His support has helped me rebuild trust in my body and believe that I can achieve anything I set my mind to—without fear of getting hurt.

What would you say to someone that’s been thinking about joining Day1?
DO IT ALREADY! You won’t find a more professional, supportive, and downright awesome gym. The trainers are the best of the best—fully invested in what they do—and the incredible community they’ve built is a reflection of that passion. Come play with us!
